New WordPress plugin: ComparePress

It’s always exciting to see a project you work on take flight. Such is the case with a new plugin in the WordPress repository called ComparePress.

We recently had the opportunity to work with Andy Symonds from The Blog House. He was in the final stages of development on his plugin and was looking for some colaboration to finish things up. While he did the lion’s share of the work, we were happy to step in and offer some assistance along the way.

Andy explains the plugin best: “ComparePress allows any WordPress based site or blog to replace their existing text based ads with an affiliate marketing based, SEO, price comparison system which adds 1000s of intelligent price comparison pages to their blog. By having this detailed and relevant comparison data, users will stay on the site for longer and the system also gives the site owners the potential to earn a greater share of the true worth of their traffic.”

The plugin was launched with 1 module that offers content for UK based sales. They are working on additional modules and are hoping to have US based solutions in place real soon.

9seeds travels to Miami

If you are going to be in Miami, FL on February 20th, you should head over to the University of Miami School of Communication to take part in WordCamp Miami 2010. Your $30 ticket will get you a t-shirt, lunch, swag bag, oh yeah, and a jam-packed day of sessions covering anything and everything WordPress.

The list of speakers for WordCamp Miami is an impressive one including developers, designers and even some staffers from Automattic. We are very excited to send Shayne Sanderson to represent 9seeds. Shayne will be giving a presentation on using WordPress and eCommerce.

9seeds in Boston

Well, it’s that time again…9seeds will be in Boston for WordCamp Boston 2010 on January 23rd!

As you all know, we love attending WordCamps. It’s a great way to meet new people, from end users to other developers and everyone in between. We will also be sponsoring this event as well as having Shayne there presenting. Shayne’s topic will be “WordPress, PHP and CSS, Oh My!”, where he will explain that without formal training and education, you can edit and modify your own WordPress theme and/or plugins. Shayne is self-taught and is going to show how he learned how to do what it is he does…and show everyone else how to as well!

As we mentioned, we’re sponsoring the event…but it doesn’t stop there. We have a few surprises up our sleeve, but you’ll have to attend to find out what they are and at this point, the event is completely sold out! So we hope you have your tickets ready, because this is shaping up to be a incredible WordCamp and good times and lots of learning to be had by all.

I can has plugin?

Last month at Blog World Expo I ran in to Ben Huh. For those who may not know, Ben is the CEO of Pet Holdings, Inc., the company behind the wildly popular blogs I Can Has Cheezeburger?, Fail Blog and dozens more. I told Ben about our new WordPress plugin development company and he said, “We need a WordPress Plugin!” How great is our timing?

I present to you, LOLPress!

LOLPress is a free WordPress plugin that adds a tooltip pop-up to images in your WordPress blog pages and posts giving you the option to add a caption to the photo and submit it to the cheezburger network. You can also click to see previous captions created by others using the same photo.

One of the things we enjoying doing most is traveling to WordCamp events, doing presentations and meeting the amazing group of WordPress users, designers and developers that come out for a great day of learning and networking! November brings us two opportunities and we’re hoping you can join us!

November 13 – WordCamp Phoenix
We are proud to be sending John Hawkins to Phoenix where he’ll give a presentation on creating a WordPress plugin. The team at GoDaddy is sponsoring the event and they are definitely doing it up right! November 14 – WordCamp New York
We were very excited to receive an invite to speak at what is shaping up to be one of the largest WordCamp events of the year. With 50 speakers and 8 session tracks, this is going to be an amazing 2 days in the Big Apple! Be sure to get there early as John Hawkins will first on stage in the beginning developer track where he’ll give a presentation on creating your first WordPress plugin.
