Version 2.0 is a complete rewrite of the original Genesis Simple Headers plugin. It’s designed to be more efficient and allow additional flexibility with how the plugin interacts with the default Genesis child themes from StudioPress.
What’s New in Version 2
– Standard and Advanced settings added to the Appearance -> Headers tab.
– Support for all standard Genesis child themes
What’s New in Version 2.2
– Added support for 5 new Genesis themes
How It Works
The plugin reads the name of the current active theme. It then reads through the list of theme definitions inside the plugin to determine if it a standard Genesis child theme. If so, it checks to see if the plugin is set to Standard or Advanced mode.
Standard Mode:
When you are using standard mode, the plugin uses the original logo size set by the theme.
Advanced Mode:
When you are using advanced mode, you are able to set the width and height for the custom header image.
It is important to keep in mind that the plugin does not change the dimensions of the header area. Which means that if the original header size was 100px tall, if you set the height to 150px, the theme will (most likely) still show it as 100px tall. To change the height of the header area you would need to modify the CSS manually.
Updated Child Themes
The team at StudioPress has been going back and updating some of their older themes. Rather than releasing them under different names, they are being upgraded to version 2.0. We updated the Genesis Simple Headers plugin to handle both version 1.x and 2.x of all the standard Genesis Simple Headers plugin as of version 2.2.
Also, as StudioPress updates their themes, they have been adding in header support to the theme itself. The Genesis Simple Headers plugin overrides their support to allow for using the advanced settings so that you can modify the size of the header should you choose.
