Does a theme purchase come with lifetime updates and support or do I need to purchase a license each year?
- For each individual theme license you purchase, you will be able to download your product, obtain software updates, and receive forum based support for one year.
- After the initial year has passed, you will need to renew your license in order to receive theme updates and continue your forum access.
- You will not be automatically renewed each year.
- You will be sent an invoice and you will decide if renewing is right for you at the time your annual subscription expires.
This license policy was put into place by Web Savvy Marketing on November 12, 2015, and adopted unchanged by 9seeds on June 1st, 2017.
Note: This applies to individual theme purchases only. Developer Pro purchases do not require annual renewal. These license holders will receive all themes files, software updates, and forum support without the need of annual renewals.
What if I don’t renew my software license?
If you do not renew your software license, your WordPress theme will still operate, however, your access to the files and support will be discontinued until a new license is purchased. You will still be able to operate your website, however, our team will not be available to provide support and you will not have access to any of the theme software updates.
What do I need in order to get the theme installed and working?
You will need to establish a domain name (URL such as www.yourwebsite.com) and website hosting (such as Blue Host, GoDaddy, or Host Gator). We highly recommend SiteGround, WP Engine or Liquid Web.
Your hosting account will need to have WordPress and the Genesis Framework installed for the theme to function.
What is Genesis?
The Genesis Framework empowers you to quickly and easily build incredible websites with WordPress. Whether you’re a novice or advanced developer, Genesis provides the secure and search-engine-optimized foundation that takes WordPress to places you never thought it could go.
You need to have Genesis installed prior to loading one of our child themes. If you do not have Genesis, our themes will not operate in WordPress.
Will your themes run on WordPress.com?
WordPress.com is a great service, but they limit theme usage of themes to those available through WordPress.com. You cannot purchase one of our themes and install it on WordPress.com.
Our themes run on self-hosted websites with hosting company that offer shared or dedicated hosting. See above question for more details.
Will the theme look exactly like the demo upon upload?
No. We are selling you a “website template” and not a full website. Once the theme is installed, you will need to import the XML file and configure the widgets and settings for your website to look like the demo. We discuss the XML file below and each theme has a support forum which provides configuration instructions.
Note you do not need to use the XML file at all. Most users do not. This is only used if you want to mimic our demo exactly.
Do you have tutorials on how to use or setup the child themes?
To preview how to install Genesis and a child theme, you can view a great video over at StudioPress.tv. After purchase, you will have access to our support forum. Each forum has instructions on setting up the theme and making it look like the demo version. We do not offer one-click theme installs.

Are stock images included in the theme license?
As part of the demonstration set up, we have used stock images from companies like iStockPhoto, BigStockPhoto, or ShutterStock. These images are used in an effort to demonstrate how the theme functions and looks when activated and populated. These images serve as example photos only. Licenses for demo images are not included in the theme license. As a theme buyer, you are responsible for adding your own images or purchasing stock images. We have tried to select reasonably priced photos in our demonstrations so you may obtain these at the lowest price available should you feel they are suitable for your own website.
Are your themes valid and cross-browser compliant?
We test our themes against all major browsers and their current release. We do our best to make sure the themes are compliant with recent versions of older browsers. Please review the product specifications for a list of browsers and versions we test to in development.
Browser testing no longer means attempting to make a website look the same in browsers of different capabilities or on devices with different size screens. It does mean ensuring that a person’s experience of a design should be appropriate to the capabilities of a browser or device.
Please note we cannot test or support operating systems that are out of date or no longer under mainstream support by their manufacturers.
What kind of license restrictions do your themes have?
The themes are released under the GPL license and are in total compliance with standards set forth by the authors of that license, as well as with WordPress.
Do you support your themes?
We offer free support via our online support forums. We do not offer phone, email, or private message support for themes.
Our free forum support provides access to our support team. They can answer questions on the theme set up and configuration, troubleshooting, minor CSS tweaks, etc.
The free support forum does not provide training on how to use WordPress, coding education, instruction for major CSS and PHP modifications, assistance with third-party plugin set up and/or configuration, the creation of custom templates or custom post types, etc.
If you’ve tried using Firebug and other tools and can’t find the exact CSS selector you need, we are glad to point you in the right direction, but ongoing 1-to-1 customization help is outside the scope of our support. We would highly recommend this support document from StudioPress that explains what skills are needed for these types of customizations and where to learn those skills.
Basically, we want to help you get your new theme up and running and we’re happy to answer questions to help make that happen. But there is a cap on what we can provide for free, so we have to a few limits on what we can offer.
That said, we’re still here to help and if you’d like paid support, we’ll do virtually anything you need at our standard hourly rate. Just ping us on our contact page and we’ll create a cost and timing estimate for you to review and approve.
Will you set up and customize the theme for me?

We’ve stopped selling our Developer Pro license to just anyone who desires it. This product became a target of fraud and due to this, we have discontinued sales of this extended license to most users.
