Well….guess what? Another WordCamp…surprise surprise! This time, I’ll be at WordCamp Savannah on August 21st and 22nd, and I’m excited to be there as I have never been to Georgia before. I am a little worried about the humidity, but I’m sure I’ll survive. This is actually a 3 day event. Friday the 20th will be a Pre-WordCamp Workshop day where you can get your own domain and site setup and get familiarized with WordPress before the actual event. This is a great idea for those who want to start a site but aren’t just quite sure how. Lisa-Sabin Wilson will be heading up this workshop, so anyone attending will be in good hands. 9seeds is sponsoring this event and I was asked to do a short version of my PHP/CSS for Beginners presentation as well as hang out at the Genius Bar on Sunday the 22nd. So I’ll do a quick version of how to understand and modify PHP and CSS for beginners and then answer the flood of questions that will probably come into the Genius Bar on [...]
Last year I had the great pleasure of attending WordCamp Denver and am very excited to be heading back to Colorado for round two! But this time, WordCamp has moved up the road to Boulder, CO. This year I won’t just be attending, but we are also one of the sponsors of the event! Last year the guys at Crowd Favorite put together a great collection of speakers, and this year is no different. Have a look at the list of speakers, and then go register to attend! There are less than 100 tickets left, so get on it! I also wanted to send a big ‘ol THANKS to the guys at Crowd Favorite for moving the event from February to July. As beautiful as it was to see everything covered in snow, I’m sure the place will be just as beautiful without the snow. See you there!
Where exactly has this month gone? I looked up and realized that in just over a week, I’ll be hopping a plane to attend WordCamp Chicago! I’m really excited! The last time I was in Chicago was December of last year for a different conference and on the day I left it was a whopping 4 degrees outside. The 10 day forecast says that it’ll be partly cloudy with a high of 75! Heck Yeah! Moderate weather aside, WordCamp Chicago looks like it’s going to be a great one. They have an outstanding list of speakers lined up! I see that there are less than 100 tickets left, so you should go and register now! From what I hear the WordPress community in Chicago is top notch. I’m looking forward to meeting a ton of new people and saying hello to some old friends! If you see me walking around, definitely come and say hello! You can also hit me up for a sticker or two.
It’s no secret, we are big fans of WordCamp events. We are even bigger fans of the people that pour their heart in to making the events happen. When we found out Brandon Dove was putting together WordCamp Orange County, we knew we wanted to be a part of it any way we could. So it was a no-brainer for us to sponsor the event. We are also thrilled to have the opportunity to help out as presenters. John Hawkins will be giving a presentation on beginning plugin development. If you are interested in writing your own plugins but aren’t sure exactly where to start, be sure to catch John’s presentation on Saturday. We’ve heard that there may be an informal Genius Bar where attendees can get some one-on-one assistance with their WordPress site. John and Todd will both be hanging around all day Saturday and will be happy to answer questions. We’ll also have a bunch of 9seeds stickers, so track us down and ask for one. We know first hand how much work goes in to putting on [...]
If you are going to be in Miami, FL on February 20th, you should head over to the University of Miami School of Communication to take part in WordCamp Miami 2010. Your $30 ticket will get you a t-shirt, lunch, swag bag, oh yeah, and a jam-packed day of sessions covering anything and everything WordPress. The list of speakers for WordCamp Miami is an impressive one including developers, designers and even some staffers from Automattic. We are very excited to send Shayne Sanderson to represent 9seeds. Shayne will be giving a presentation on using WordPress and eCommerce. For a complete list of speakers and list of sessions, head over to WordCampMia.com. If you can’t make it to Miami, follow along on Twitter using hashtag: #wcmia
Well, it’s that time again…9seeds will be in Boston for WordCamp Boston 2010 on January 23rd! As you all know, we love attending WordCamps. It’s a great way to meet new people, from end users to other developers and everyone in between. We will also be sponsoring this event as well as having Shayne there presenting. Shayne’s topic will be “WordPress, PHP and CSS, Oh My!”, where he will explain that without formal training and education, you can edit and modify your own WordPress theme and/or plugins. Shayne is self-taught and is going to show how he learned how to do what it is he does…and show everyone else how to as well! As we mentioned, we’re sponsoring the event…but it doesn’t stop there. We have a few surprises up our sleeve, but you’ll have to attend to find out what they are and at this point, the event is completely sold out! So we hope you have your tickets ready, because this is shaping up to be a incredible WordCamp and good times and lots of learning to be [...]
One of the things we enjoying doing most is traveling to WordCamp events, doing presentations and meeting the amazing group of WordPress users, designers and developers that come out for a great day of learning and networking! November brings us two opportunities and we’re hoping you can join us! November 13 – WordCamp Phoenix We are proud to be sending John Hawkins to Phoenix where he’ll give a presentation on creating a WordPress plugin. The team at GoDaddy is sponsoring the event and they are definitely doing it up right! They will be live streaming the sessions so you can catch the sessions even if you aren’t able to make it out to the event. You can also follow along on Twitter with the hashtag: #PhxWC (Note: If you plan on being at the show and want to talk about a WordPress project with John, please catch him in the morning as he’ll be heading to the airport shortly after his presentation.) November 14 – WordCamp New York We were very excited to receive an invite to speak at what [...]
